6th “mtex+” in Chemnitz: new profile as an exhibition for the complete world of technical textiles is a success

mtex+ Innovation Award
“The new profile of the “mtex+” exhibition as a place to discover more about the complete world of innovative technical textiles was a success. It was not only possible to observe an in-depth exchange of ideas at the stands of more than 100 exhibitors from six different countries, but specific business and cooperation arrangements were also pretty much launched in many cases,” says Michael Kynast, the Exhibition Manager, summing up his impressions. The Czech Republic was the exhibition’s official partner country for the first time.

Norafin Industries (Germany) GmbH, based at Mildenau, won the innovation prize at the 2016 “mtex+” for its new kind of hydro-entangled flax fibre non-wovens.

The “mtex+” presented a prize to a talented young person together with the Meisenbach publishing house for the first time. It went to Vera Gail from the Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, who had designed textile crash barriers for greater road safety.

The supporting programme at the “mtex+” included a special exhibition and a symposium on medical and health textiles, the 15th Chemnitz Textile Technology Conference, the “NanoMatTextil” technology forum organised by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and a special day for specialists and students.

The 6th “mtex+” was held alongside the 4th LiMA Lightweight Design Exhibition. The topics there were composites and textile-based lightweight design. The trade visitors to the “mtex+” and LiMA made use of the opportunity to also gain an impression of what was taking place outside their specific field of interest at the Saxon Industry and Technology Fair (SIT) and an IT user forum, which were held at the same time. Overall, more than 3,500 exhibition visitors gained information from the 280 exhibiting companies and research institutes. The three exhibitions were held under the heading “Value added3 – technical textiles meet lightweight design meets industry and technology”.

Chemnitz. The 5th “mtex” International Mobile Textiles Show and the 3rd  “LiMA” Exhibition for Lightweight Design in Engineering and Plant Construction were a great success in Chemnitz on 14 – 16 May 2014 and attracted a high level of professional expertise. 88 exhibitors from Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, India, Israel and Switzerland presented their range of products and services in the Free State of Saxony at the heart of one of the most important German automobile construction, engineering and textile regions. The “mtex” and “LiMA” exhibitions were held as part of the newly conceived “Chemnitz Specialist Exhibitions” alongside the SIT Saxon Industry and Technology Fair and the “IT Users’ Forum”. Almost 5,000 visitors in all examined what the 300 exhibitors – including some prestigious research institutes – unveiled and they participated in the symposiums and workshops. The organisers not only welcomed guests from Germany to the mobile textile and lightweight design exhibitions, but trade visitors from Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Great Britain, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Russia and the Czech Republic too.
